THE BLOGGER

Hello and welcome to A Forest of Books and Memories!

My name is Sakina and I am 21 years old. I’m going into my fourth year of university majoring in Medical Science (which is just a fancy name for courses like physiology, anatomy, microbiology…) and minoring in Classical Studies (I love history!).

As for what I enjoy…I guess you can tell from the title of this blog that I love to read! I’ve always enjoyed reading, but I kind of went through a five-year-long slump and recently got back into reading at the very end of 2014. 2015 has been a great reading year and I’m excited for what 2016 will hold!

WHAT’S IN A NAME?

I decided that I wanted to start blogging in November of 2015. Originally I wanted a place where I could write about my final year of university – a place where I could record my thoughts and feelings, plans and goals, and especially any rants (school or non-school related). 2015 has been a really good reading year for me, and as a result I kind of started feeling the itch to write again. Starting a blog seemed like a good way to get back into writing. 2015 was also the year that I really got into BookTube, and by the end of the year I was considering starting my own channel. However, there were multiple things that got in the way and I decided that if YouTube wasn’t a possibility, I could write about books instead. That’s kind of how this blog came to be.

I decided to go with A Forest of Books and Memories mainly because the word forest reminds me of trees, which of course reminds me of books! When I think of trees, I think of how each age ring represents a certain stage or memory in a tree’s lifetime. In a way, this blog will be a series of age rings that represent the books I’ve read and the memories (whether good or bad) I’ve made each year.
